nienor niniel is a character from silmarillion.
nienor means mourning
niniel means tear-maiden
nioniel isn't an elvish word, but nion (noldorin) or ninui (sindarin) mean 'time of sorrow' and monsoon season respectively.
the roots are: nin for tear and urui for month.
so nioniel means something like "maiden of the days of sorrow"
Yeah, Nioniel is a sort of modified vesrion. I think it roots from Niniel though. The "maiden of the days of sorrow" bit i remember.
And yeah i just used some silly "elven name generator" a year or two ago, and the name's been there eversince!
I liked the name, I love it for the meaning now! xD
